Documentary Photography Topic

The topic I picked is physical stress and how it affects a person’s body. People should have many thoughts when it comes to stress. They should be wondering how stress can affect a person’s everyday life. As well as, how people can cope with the overwhelming feeling. Even coming up with ideas on how to help others. The emotions people should feel are curiosity. Or even maybe a little sad. I say sad, because stress needs to be taken more seriously. Most people laugh at other dealing with stuff. Or even relieved when they know that they are not the only one dealing with stress. Conversations people should have are different ways the whole community can deal with stress. Also, talk about the physical experiences they go through. There are so many ways pictures can express stress. In the pictures there should definitely be people showing emotions. Black and white photos could possibly be used. Color photos will also be used. Indoor photos would typically be used more than outdoor photos. I think still shot photos would be more useful. Mainly to capture the whole feeling. The photos need to definitely tell and show a story. Also, there is possibility of using different angles to capture the photos.

Dorthea Lange Writing

Social documentary is the goal of social documentary photography is to take pictures that convey narratives about the society we live in. It is a means of graphically recording political events, cultural norms, and social issues. Social documentary photography can be used to emphasize the hardships and victories of marginalized groups, record the aftermath of a natural disaster, or capture the day-to-day lives of individuals living in a community. Concerned photography is photos that demonstrate humanitarian impulse to educate the change of the world, and not just record it. Compassionate photography is the process of offering and practicing photography with an objective that centers around the humanity and emotional needs of individuals in intricate and complicated settings. Each of the pictures show the environment that people live in. In some ways, each picture can tell and does tell a story. The first picture relays a story by showing how cars were back then. In the second and third pictures, the facial expressions and body language give of a certain feeling.
